Weather Risk Management Association’s XIth European Conference


It is the first time in history when the meeting will take place in Poland. Consus S.A. and WRMA will take up the challenge and honor to organize this year’s edition.

WRMA’s congresses are organized all over the world and they always reach high international level of performance. First initiated in the United States by the Weather Risk Management Association, is it’s initiator.

The main topics will be opportunities to use weather derivatives as a risk management tool in different branches of economic and financial planning strategies in emission trading .

The following issues will be risen on Confrence:


1. Weather derivatives in modern weather risk management.
In this part of the Conference lectures will be given on such topics as the basics of weather risk management, the goals of using weather derivatives in a global market and the terms of making weather contracts in practice, also in Poland.
To complement issues arising there will be given examples of contracts from different economies.

2. Environmental funds, carbon dioxide market and topics associated with climate negotiations after Kioto protocol.
Topics will include emission trading, taxes and legal aspects for EU after 2012. There will be an analysis of emissions trading market and proactive risk management. There will also be a place for environmental certificates and correlated with them tax and regulation aspects.

3. Issues linked with weather derivatives application in practice.
The last part of WRMA’s Conference is, as previously, left for law and tax issues. This time it will take place in connection with present changes in terms of global regulations in the financial derivatives market. There is also the topic of meteorological data quality and price.

Issues in the main area of interest at the Conference will be presented by International specialists in this matter. Lectures will be given with translation in two languages, Polish and English.
