Greece to auction 1 million EUAs on Wednesday

The Athens Stock Exchange will auction 1 million EU emission allowances (EUAs) on Wednesday on behalf of the Greek government, it said today.

The first Greek auction this year will be held on January 18. It will by an "ad hoc" auction while the next "scheduled" auction, also for 1 million EUAs, will be held on January 25, the last Wednesday of the month.

The Greek government sold a total of 10 million EUAs last year in eleven auctions at € 8.38-16.11, at a value of around 114 million euros. The first auction was held in mid-June.

The Athens-based exchange has not published the 2012 auction schedule yet.
