EEX

The European Energy Exchange (EEX), based in Leipzig, offers trading in European Union Allowances (EUAs) and Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) in the spot and futures markets.

The EEX introduced the EUA spot contract on March 9, 2005, and the EUA futures contract on October 4, 2005. Since March 26, 2008, the exchange widened its offer with the CER futures contract and on April 14, 2008, with the EUA options.

In December 2007, the EEX started cooperation in trading EUAs in the futures market with Eurex. The exchange has more than 200 members.
